About Cayva
A Caribbean-first car sharing marketplace, opened one island at a time.
Cayva connects travellers with people who already own the right vehicle for the island they are on.
Most car sharing platforms treat the Caribbean as one place. It is not. Barbados wants a visitor's permit; the British Virgin Islands want a temporary local licence; the Bahamas and Barbados drive on the left while Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands drive on the right; every island taxes rentals differently and insures them differently.
So Cayva is built around markets. Each island carries its own currency, tax model, driver eligibility rules, deposit policy, insurance partner, roadside provider and payment gateway. A vehicle cannot be booked in a jurisdiction until that market has been legally reviewed and switched on by an administrator — there is no global "on" switch.
We are a marketplace, not an insurance carrier. Protection on every trip is arranged through the partner named for that market, and the plan version you were sold is the one that governs your trip, whatever we change later.
